Utilizing social media channels like with Facebook Marketing are essential components that can help you reach your target audience and boost sales.

Facebook marketing can also help your business or brand get discovered, raise or establish brand awareness, and engage with your online followers.

However, building your brand’s online credibility and expanding your market influence will take some time and effort.

Further, don’t expect that after merely setting up a Facebook page that it will encourage or lure the social media netizens to like and follow your brand. It takes a lot of patience and implementation of strategy or multiple strategies to make it work.

So, what are the fundamental steps that you must take to generate your first 1,000 followers on Facebook, which will hopefully lead to a boost in sales and profit?

Here is a list of 10 Facebook Marketing tips you can implement to help you increase user engagement and brand exposure.

 

Tip 1. Make Your Page Unique

Vying for attention on social media is a taxing work.

You really need to stand out and make your page interesting to attract new followers, and generate likes and shares.

Just imagine the number of pages that may be offering the same products and services just like yours.

Hence, you need to offer your online clients better content that will catch their attention to your brand and not to your competitor’s.

To start making your page interesting, start with your page cover. Of course, your cover should reflect your branding and you can use it as a way to convey additional information about you and your brand, but avoid using it as a giant billboard to sell your offerings.

Also, be sure to fill out the rest of your profile to give a complete and professional look.  Add your “about” and description, hours of operation (if applicable) and be sure to include your website and contact information.

 

Tip 2. Create Epic Content. Always!

Great content is what makes readers visit your site. Your content should catch their attention and retain their interest so that they might keep coming back to your page.

Additionally, your content should be relevant to your reader and to your brand, and it should also provide value to your reader – whether this value is educational, informative, or purely entertainment.

Needless to say, talking about fashion disasters and fails is not relevant if your brand is about skin care. You can make it relevant if you will feature contents or articles about weird skin care tips from celebrities or ancient beauty secrets that you might want to try.

Although whipping up knock-out and superb content can be quite hard, you can use this guide when conceptualizing each piece: Will the content invoke action and/or a reaction from my online followers?

Another question that may help you assess is your content’s worthiness: Will the content capture the interest of potential followers? 

 

Tip 3. Invite Friends and Tell Everyone!

Share your page and invite your friends to like it. Don’t be shy in asking your family, friends and acquaintances to like your page.

You can also invite members of Facebook groups that share the same niche or interest, but it is important to note that  you should avoid spamming – NOT cool.

Although now, Facebook makes it incredibly easy to invite your current FB friends from your fan page.  Just the other day Matt was telling me how he invited a segment of his friends from his personal profile (980 total) and it increased his fan page likes by over 100 in 1 hour.

Also keep in mind that by simply running ads, those that have yet to like your page will see a “like page” button at the top of your ads.

 

Tip 4. Get Networking

Don’t be confined in your own Facebook page and existing social network.

To increase likes and shares, you should go out of your comfort zone and be a social butterfly.

Acknowledge new followers, engage in a conversation with your online commenters, like other pages, comment on other pages, and share the relevant content from other pages.

However, make sure that the ‘other’ Facebook page is not your direct competitor.

You can now also join Facebook groups as your page, if the group admins have allowed it in their settings (most don’t think to turn this off).

 

Tip 5.  Run Contests

Running a Facebook contest is one effective way to engage current online followers and gain new ones.

Games will also increase your user-engagement, hence improving your social media ranking or insights.

Mostly, Facebook games or contests involve page sharing and liking. Some may also require the participants to comment on the page and use an assigned hashtag.

The contest mechanics may differ depending on your target or goals. Be clear on what you would want to achieve and cover all the what-ifs to ensure that you will achieve what your contest aims for.

It will also help if you will make the prize relevant and truly attractive.

 

Tip 6. Host Webinars

Running or hosting webinars is one of the most effective ways to engage your online followers and attract new ones.

You can post a link to the register form in your Facebook page or ask them to hit ‘contact you’ in the call to action.

However, make sure that the webinar, just like your content, should be highly interesting, relevant and provides value to your online target market.

You can even create a Facebook Event and link it on your fan page so visitors can easily see it.

Promoting your Facebook page through Facebook ads is one of the fastest and most effective ways to increase your followers.

Posts are seen by as little as 10 to 15% of your FB fans, while those who don’t visit your site often may not even see your posts in their newsfeeds at all.

Hence, a Facebook ad is a sure way to reach new fans. A simple $1/day “likes” campaign will do the trick.

Again, by simply running ads, those that have yet to like your page will see a “like page” button at the top of your ads, so it pays to always be running ads.

 

Tip 8. Create Interesting Threads

Be creative when you present your brand with your content since it can either catch the interest of your readers or bore them to death.

To ensure that you will be posting interesting threads, it is best if you can create a posting plan to ensure the variety of the posts.

You can present your content in trivia form, or another game, and other forms that can entice user-engagement.

Create polls and ask your audience engaging questions about what they like, don’t like, what they may be struggling with, their favorite things about something, etc. – just use your imagination, get creative, and have fun!

 

Tip 9. Add a Facebook “like” Button to Your Blog/Website

Add Facebook’s social media icon to your site for easy Facebook sharing.

It is best if you can add a social media sharing button to every article or piece of content on your site.

To do this, you can visit https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/ and simply follow the instructions.

 

Tip 10. Exit-Intent Pop-ups

One of the fastest ways to grow your page (or FB group) is to utilize “exit-intent” pop-ups for when someone visits your site and leaves.  Be sure not to “trap” the user and prohibit them from leaving but rather just show them a simple offer to “like your fan page” or “join your group.”

These don’t work on mobile devices of course but you can still make an effort to add “like us on Facebook” or “join our Facebook group” throughout your site, your content, and even in your author bio!
